LOVE- Patti Smith!

To put in words how much I am intrigued by Patti Smith is really challenging to say the least. I guess that I would say that I am mystified by her; someone who fearlessly dares to be different. She inspires me in so many ways, from fashion to poetry always fresh, always reinventing herself.

 While moving I came across an Issue of LA Weekly that I had saved with a 3 page Article entitled "Dreams of Life and Death, Looking Back With Patti Smith" that chronicles parts of her new book "Just Kids" that is a memoir to her friend, lover and confidante Robert Maplethorpe. Needless to say, this book is on my list.

VTG Shopping Guide- MCM Vintage Home Accessories

Finally moved in! Now to add the last little touches... accessories!

A quick and easy way to update or change up your interior is to add new or different accessories. The best things about vintage home wares is the low impact they have on the environment and the fact that each piece is unique and you won't find it at a chain store or anything like that.   Of course, one my favorite design periods is the mid century era.  I have scoured Etsy for the coolest vintage MCM accessories around. Moving

My guy and I have been in the process of moving for about a week. Luckily we are just about done, which is great! Now all we have to do is unpack, that will be a lot more fun than packing ; ) I am excited to share some pictures when everything is set up and put in it's place.

This week I am planning to do a mid century modern home shopping guide in celebration of our new place.

For now, here is a "box" inspired shoot, if only moving were really this glamorous!

Weekend Getaway: Joshua Tree & the wild wild west

This weekend I was lucky enough to get out of town for a few days. It was so nice to have a change of scenery and go somewhere that is so quiet and serene. I realized that I really love the desert, more specifically Joshua Tree. There is something that is majestic about those trees.

It doesn't surprise me that numerous famous bands have gone out there for inspiration. I suppose the most famous would be U2 since they named a complete album after this place but there have been tons more such as the Rolling Stones and Gram Parsons. I'm sure that there are far more bands that have used Joshua Tree's natural splendor as inspiration.

Falling Down the Staircase

Feeling Frustrated

The Rolling Stones put it perfectly when they sang "You can't always get what you want", it's life and it happens occasionally to everyone, I guess right now is one of those times for me. Why, you ask? Well first off it's taking longer than expected to move into the new place and secondly, getting the new inventory photos for The Salon Mystique VTG Shop is being delayed. My apologies to all of my faithful followers, new stuff will be up soon, I promise : )

So I found some great editorials that captured the essence of feeling frustrated. I also listened to the song Fortress by Pinback and now I'm am feeling a lot less frustrated. It always pays off to take frustration and funnel it into a form of creativity. Enjoy!

Hey Ho, Let's Go! An ode to The Ramones

Yesterday I was waiting for my boyfriend to get ready (funny, right?) when suddenly this song understandably gets stuck in my head. It got me thinking about how much the Ramones influence my personal style throughout the years.

I must admit that I have always been a fan and back in the day I would more often thank not rock some version of ripped jeans, sneakers and a pair of Converse but now-a-days my style mostly centers around a leather jacket. Getting this classic song stuck in my head reminded me of the Ramones box set that I owned in High School and how I would listen to The Ramones when I was getting ready for school, but I digress...
