Happy New Year! Top 5 Style Icons of the Decade

Happy New Years everyone! Has everyone made their resolutions yet?

I'm sure that you won't be shocked to hear that mine is to keep this blog up and running with more frequent posts.  In 2010 this blog and my vintage shop are getting a nice little modern make over, which I'm super excited about! Stay tuned for a new sexy little logo.

So the aughts, the little decade that could....

The 00's brought along tons of style and great trends let's take a look at some of my favorite style icons from the last decade

KATE MOSS
An obvious choice for an obvious reason: this girl has crazy awesome style

GWEN STEFANI
Always adds a touch of Gwen to any outfit. She has an amazing ever evolving style

SIENNA MILLER
Another chic Brit that has started many trends.

 MICHELLE WILLIAMS
Her style is just as cute as she is, adorable!

RACHEL BILSON
Every look that she has is surprisingly polished, yet she always adds a hint of coolness

It was so hard to choose, I definitely have more favorites on my list but these girls are definitely at the top of my list. I didn't add the Olsens because they would have taken up the whole page! I will do a separate dedication to them in the future so stay tuned!

I want to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR! May 2010 bring you lots of luck and joy!

These are my twisted words- Art inspired by Radiohead

There are some bands that are iconic and never seem to get old, this to me is Radiohead. So much emotion and feeling is put into each song they have created. It is great that a band like this exists in a time where record companies are just looking for the next new thing (I have a feeling that it won't last much longer). Art is just as inspiring as music and it is amazing when the two are cominbed just as it is in this piece by Cameron Smith.

This piece really evokes the feeling and aura of the band. Just in time for the holidays, this limited edition work is the perfect gift for an adoring Radiohead fan. Available as a poster or canvas print, surprise your favorite fan with a one of a kind, limited run Radiohead piece. Available only at Salon Mystique

Time Travel - Mad About Plaid from Fall's Past

Today I came across a lookbook that I made for Fall 2008 and a look from Boy by Band of Outsiders caught my eye, so I reviewed the whole collection. I am still in love with this collection and think the styling is genius! The subtle addition of plaid as an accent is great and I also adore the plaid on plaid styling. As the saying goes: fashions fade but style is timeless.

Trends that you can bike in

Recently one of my friends suggested that I should have a post about bike fashion. What a great idea! Sometimes it seems hard to find something that is both functional and fashionable for girls that ride fixed gear or single speed bikes. It is challenging at times to find the right shoes and sometimes I want to wear something other than my go-to staple: long leggings. With riding in mind I searched for collections that mixed high fashion with riding sensibilities

These outfit pairings + whatever shoes that are comfortable to ride in = fashionable function

Styling: Stairway in the Sky Shoot

Here are some photos from one of the more recent shoots that I worked on. The whole shoot concept was based around this awesome vintage staircase, with a blue color palette.

I produced the hair and makeup on this shoot and styled the second look which is the outfit with the shorts. As far as the hair goes, lately I have really been loving the whole big and messy hair look. When we decided to change up the hair for the second look, I styled the hair into a messy french twist with a headband.

The makeup is a variation of the on trend cat eye look, topped off with a pale pink lip.
