The Best of Bike Fashion

I've been looking for inspiration all over the web to find the best and most unique bike fashions. I for one always need new ideas for what to wear while riding, I always end up wearing the same kind of thing.

While on my search for the best cycling fashions on the net I came across this awesome site called vélocouture. This site offers a great variety of bike fashion from all over the world, next time you need some help on what to wear while riding, this is a great place to start!

That's How I Roll - Anything but plain, please

What I choose to wear day to day is determined by weather I am on my bike or not. When I am on my bike the go to garment has definitely got to be leggings, they are easy to wear, stylish, comfortable and you can still wear your favorite dress or skirt without worrying about giving a free peep show. Having style while I'm on two wheels is pretty important to me and what can I say, I guess I'm a little vain.

That said, I have tons of pairs of the same old plain black leggings and this sent me on a quest to find something a little bit different to break up the monotony of my bike outfits. I scoured Etsy to bring you all my favorite legging finds.

Alright, so I know these aren't technically leggings but what they are is technically awesome! I love the illusion of having a tattoo on your legs. I'm sure that these get tons of attention when worn. Amazing!

Part 2: Valentine's Day Gift Guide - For The Love of Bikes!

Wow, Valetine's Day is starting to peek it's head around the corner, but don't fret. Today I am going to share with you some great gifts to get that avid cyclist in your life! Alright, so part 2 of the series was inspired by my guy and I. We are both very into riding our bikes, so either of us would ADORE getting anything that has to do with our favorite hobby. I have compiled a list of some great unique and handmade bike items that are cool and functional for two wheels. Here we go!

A great gift for a guy or a girl! Keep your sweetie's head warm while also assisting them in their style.

   Not only are these handmade hats stylish, they are also recycled! Bonus for loving your love and loving the earth all at the same time! Super cute designs for both guys and girls!

Messenger Bag

A messenger bag is also a cool and practical gift for any cyclist and even non cyclist for that matter. I love the different patterns and designs from this awesome Etsy seller Marty May. 

  

Some of these bags have a really cool print of a Rad Rider (remember that movie? ; ) on a bicycle. Super cool, super functional an all around great gift!

Bicycle Rack

Sick of tripping over that bicycle every time you come over to visit? Well, you don't have to nag anymore and at the same time you can take care of that itching question about what you were going to get for your favorite Valentine.

  

The amazing people at cantilever and press have made this amazing looking bike rack. This functional piece would look amazing in any house or apartment!

Trends that you can bike in

Recently one of my friends suggested that I should have a post about bike fashion. What a great idea! Sometimes it seems hard to find something that is both functional and fashionable for girls that ride fixed gear or single speed bikes. It is challenging at times to find the right shoes and sometimes I want to wear something other than my go-to staple: long leggings. With riding in mind I searched for collections that mixed high fashion with riding sensibilities

These outfit pairings + whatever shoes that are comfortable to ride in = fashionable function

 

 

Fall 09 Fashion Favorites Continued

Since it is only a matter of days until New York fashion week starts, I am going to celebrate by recapping all of my favorite looks and trends for the Fall 2009 season. Fashion week is one of my favorite times of the year. I am amazed by the creativity of fashion designers; I imagine it would be a challenge to think of new pieces twice a year. I can't wait to see what they come up with for spring!



Biker Chick Chic
I am always a sucker for the biker look; it brings out the bad ass in me. Making it's second run on the runway for fall 09.

Yigal Azrouel RTW Fall 09

I really love the top in this look! Very gauzy, and I love the little splash of color! Add a pair of leather skinnys and a pair of boots and you're well on your way to becoming that bad ass version of yourself. Simple and fabulous!

Temperly London RTW Fall 09

It's biker chic made feminine with this look. That dress is fabulous! I love how the top of it is lacy with fringe hanging for the sleeve, top it off with a leather vest and great studded heels. LOVE those heels!

Katy Rodriguez RTW Fall '09

A much looser version of the bad ass biker, this ensemble of course has the leather jacket. I love that in fall 09 the shoulder pad has it's moment, although this jacket doesn't really have shoulder pads, I'm digging the little sleeve poof. The looseness of this outfit really comes from the harem pants which were also a new addition to fall 09. The tight fitting lace top is perfect with the harem pants. Love the ankle boots. And the gloves really top off this look.
