Salon Mystique Makeover!

Friends, Fans and Faithful followers, you may have noticed that the Etsy shop looks a tad different. Right now we're in the process of a giant whole store digital remodel. All of our first photos are Polaroids, and we are also making it easier to shop by creating crisper and clearer pictures. Overall the goal is to make the shop tons more fun! Also in the works is a brand new web site.

New vintage items coming soon, so stay tuned!

Fashion Featured and New Vintage

Hello all!

Recently we have decided to change the photos that we have on our shop. Instead of doing the usual catalog style, we have decided to shoot our merch outside to create more of an atmosphere. I love this new way of showcasing the clothes, it is a lot more natural although shooting outside is much more of a challenge at times.

The last shoot was so windy that most of the clothing shots didn't turn out, but luckily there were a few that made it yay! Our model, Mona, was fantastic!

We have actually had a great response; we were featured in this month's issue of Endorphinum ezine in the fashion section. Check it out!

Here are some more recent shots and clothing from Salon Mystique.

Psuedo Outfit: 60's Lace Mini

My first outfit/ street syle post! yay!

This is what I wore to the LA River shoot. That day was cool enough to wear a long sleeve shirt yet warm enough to wear shorts. I found this great tunic/mini dress when I was thrifting one day and was really excited because I have been looking for a piece like this for a while; it really reminds me of Anita Pallenberg and great 60's style. The necklace I am wearing is my favorite, I inherited it from my grandmother.

Amazing 60's Fashion Blogs

Being a lover of vintage, I take most of my style ques from eras past. Everyone has a favorite decade to draw influence from mine is the 60's-70's; I get super excited when I find blogs that dedicate themselves to this period of time. I love to pick up vintage magazines when I find them, but my collection is still in it's infancy. That's where the blogs come in, these blogs have an amazing vintage collection of photos from time passed.

My Favorite 60's fashion Blogs are Child of the Moon and (Diet) Coke and Sympathy.
These blogs are great! If you love fashion from the 60's go check them out!

Child of the Moon has features everyone from Audrey Hepburn to photographers like Norman Parkinson to Mia Farrow and the list Continues!

Here is a little sample of what Child of the Moon offers:

The author of (Diet) Coke and Sympathy is obsessed with Marianne Faithfull and Anita Pallenberg (great fashion icons to be obsessed with) and sometimes does other posts of influential people from the 60's.

Here are some samplings from (Diet) Coke and Sympathy:

One day till fashion week & New Vintage on the Etsy shop

New York fashion week starts tomorrow! YAY! I will give updates on my favorite collections and trends for Spring 2010 as the week continues. Very Exciting Stuff! I can't wait to see all of the new collections so I can pick vintage that is similar to the new trends. It's funny because most new fashion is inspired by vintage styles.

The documentary Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton is great to watch to see how collections are inspired and how they come up with the ideas. There is one part of the movie where they find a purple vintage shirt and recreate pieces that are inspired by one shirt, so it really shows that many collections are inspired directly by vintage clothes. (watch trailer here)

I had to interrupt the fall fashion recap to show you all the treasures that are about to go up on the Etsy shop this week! There are some really cool pieces that will be great for fall! A mixture of dresses, skirts and jumpsuits from different eras.

The Hippie Collection is almost sold out! Be sure to check it out before it's all gone!

Salon Mystique on Etsy now offering Vintage!

The Hippie Collection

I LOVE vintage clothes and am very happy to announce that I will be offering up some of my vintage finds on my etsy shop! (salonmystique.etsy.com) The collection of vintage that I am showing is from late 60's, early 70's. This era is always in style because of the new found freedom that represented these times. It is the essence of Hippie, Earth Child and Rock & Roll.

The Hippie Collection is inspired by artists like Devendra Banhart and Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan and were selected especially to embody the spirit of renaissance and freedom of thought. All of these pieces are very earthy and can be accompanied with modern pieces for a modern feel.

This collection is reminiscent of the styles worn at summer festivals found at Style.com. Check them out here.

More pics coming soon...

These pieces will be available for purchase on Sept. 3, 2009. Here is a sneak peek:
