Time Travel - Mad About Plaid from Fall's Past
Today I came across a lookbook that I made for Fall 2008 and a look from Boy by Band of Outsiders caught my eye, so I reviewed the whole collection. I am still in love with this collection and think the styling is genius! The subtle addition of plaid as an accent is great and I also adore the plaid on plaid styling. As the saying goes: fashions fade but style is timeless.

Trends that you can bike in
Recently one of my friends suggested that I should have a post about bike fashion. What a great idea! Sometimes it seems hard to find something that is both functional and fashionable for girls that ride fixed gear or single speed bikes. It is challenging at times to find the right shoes and sometimes I want to wear something other than my go-to staple: long leggings. With riding in mind I searched for collections that mixed high fashion with riding sensibilities

Styling: Stairway in the Sky Shoot
Here are some photos from one of the more recent shoots that I worked on. The whole shoot concept was based around this awesome vintage staircase, with a blue color palette.
I produced the hair and makeup on this shoot and styled the second look which is the outfit with the shorts. As far as the hair goes, lately I have really been loving the whole big and messy hair look. When we decided to change up the hair for the second look, I styled the hair into a messy french twist with a headband.
The makeup is a variation of the on trend cat eye look, topped off with a pale pink lip.

Fashion Featured and New Vintage
Hello all!
Recently we have decided to change the photos that we have on our shop. Instead of doing the usual catalog style, we have decided to shoot our merch outside to create more of an atmosphere. I love this new way of showcasing the clothes, it is a lot more natural although shooting outside is much more of a challenge at times.
The last shoot was so windy that most of the clothing shots didn't turn out, but luckily there were a few that made it yay! Our model, Mona, was fantastic!
We have actually had a great response; we were featured in this month's issue of Endorphinum ezine in the fashion section. Check it out!

The Art of Styling Headshots
Some of the photo shoots I have been working on lately have been headshot shoots. Everyone needs them in LA, so why not?
Headshots require very natural hair and make up, which is good for a change because lately I am really into the 60's cat eye make up, Bridget Bardot look (Love). Make up consists of a neutral color eye shadow, maybe some light eyeliner, mascara, light blush, and some gloss. Super natural.
Same goes with hair. Whatever is natural for the model is usually the best choice for headshots.
As far as styling goes, the clothes in head shots are not supposed to take away from the face; the creativity in this is finding tops that work with the model's skin tones, so anything that is complementary to the skin without taking away from the face is perfect. I am finding that neutral colors work well for headshots!
If you are thinking about getting headshots, take these pointers into consideration before shooting to get an amazing shot.

I have been slacking big time on this blog lately, mostly because I've been busy styling on shoots (pics to come soon!). It has been fun and rewarding to be doing this kind of work again, I love creating amazing images and working with super talented people.

Jump Ahead: Black and White for spring @ Collette Dinnigan
Just got back from a great vacation and business trip in Chicago/Michigan. It was great to get out of town for a few days and experience something new. Getting away for a few days is essential, it helps to recharge inspiration and creativity. During this trip I met some amazing people which was the icing on the cake!
I love to look at the latest collections, there is just something about knowing what the future holds that intrigues me; whilst I was browsing I came across the S/S 2010 collection by Collette Dinnigan. This collection is super feminine and mostly all of the pieces are black and white. There is just something so classic about black and white, it's easy to wear and it's chic.
